  • Day 1: Casablanca – Arrive In Morocco’s Most Contemporary City

Welcome to our 14 days Jewish tour from Casablanca, a city where French colonial heritage meets traditional Arab culture. Casablanca, Morocco’s vibrant gateway, is known for its charming Medina with Moorish architecture, bustling alleys, and fascinating historical landmarks. From the world’s second-largest mosque to stunning Art Deco buildings, the city offers a rich mix of attractions around every corner.

After a long flight, we'll ensure you have time to rest before embarking on a guided tour of Casablanca's Jewish neighborhood first thing in the morning.

  • Day 2: Casablanca – Full-Day Tour Of Morocco’s Current Jewish Neighborhood:

Our Jewish Heritage Tour in Casablanca begins with a visit to some of the city’s most iconic synagogues, including Beth El, Eim Habanim, and David Hamelekh, which are beautifully nestled along the coast in the vibrant Corniche neighborhood. While the historic Jewish Mellah no longer houses a Jewish community, it remains a significant area to explore, where you can still find kosher butchers keeping the traditions alive.

Next, we’ll head to the Jewish cemetery, an evocative place where you’ll find white stone tombstones etched with inscriptions in Hebrew, French, and Spanish—each a testament to the deep roots of the Jewish community in Morocco.

Our journey continues to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism, a rich collection of religious, cultural, and artistic artifacts that reveal the daily lives of Moroccan Jews. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore Torahs, Chanukah lamps, paintings, and sculptures, each telling a story of Morocco's unique Jewish heritage. If time allows, we’ll also visit the welcoming Casablanca Jewish Club, a charming spot to unwind. Along the way, you’ll encounter traditional kosher bakeries and restaurants like Cercle de L’Alliance and La Truffe, where you can taste the flavors of Jewish Morocco.

  • Day 3: Rabat – Sale En Route To Chefchaouen

No visit to Morocco is complete without spending a few hours in the country’s capital, Rabat. You’ll be glad to know that the city has a modest Jewish population, with one functioning synagogue and one kosher eatery. The Royal Palace and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V are only two of the fascinating historical sites that Rabat has to offer. We will find numerous authentic Moroccan trinkets in the old medina. In this area of the city, there is also a wonderful flea market.

Later on in the day, you’ll be traveling to Sale, a town renowned for its landmark Great Mosque and the Mausoleum of Sidi Ben Ashir. Numerous souks offering everything from jewelry and household goods to fresh food and spices can be expected.

  • Day 4: Guided To Chefchaouen Home To Historical Synagogues

The blue city of Morocco, Chefchaouen, is where we will stop next. This charming town, which is home to numerous old synagogues, was established in the fifteenth century as Jewish and Moorish settlers fled the Spanish Reconquista. The Medina, the Kasbah from the 15th century, and Utta El Hamam Square are the three most visited sights in the city. The city’s medina is a great place for leisurely strolls and offers the chance to purchase genuine, traditional mementos. The Grand Mosque of Chefchaouen is one of the most significant structures in the town and is popular with tourists due to its charming octagonal minaret.

  • Day 5: Chefchaouen – Asjen {mausoleum rabbi amram ben diwan} – Meknes – Volubilis Ruins

The shrine of Rabbi Amram ben Diwane is the first place our knowledgeable guide takes us in the morning. It is one of the most important Jewish sanctuaries in Morocco and is situated in the tiny community of Azjen. When we get to Meknes, we’ll take you to the Jewish Quarter, which is renowned for its vibrant courtyard and winding streets. View the Greek and Hebraic inscriptions from the Christina era and be in awe of the splendor of Rabbi David Benmidan’s tomb.
Our tour guide will take you to view the well-known remains of Volubilis in the late afternoon. The basilica, the capitol, enormous columns, and a triumphal arch are among the magnificent Roman ruins that are dispersed over a number of acres of land.
    Proceed to Fes.

  • Day 6: Fes – Visit the historical jewish neighborhood and restored synagogue

The next stop on your Morocco travel itinerary is the lovely city of Fes.
It should come as no surprise that we will be spending the full day here because it is one of the most well-known cities in medieval Jewish history.
Our journey in Fes can begin with the city’s mellah, which was established back in the 15th century.
Numerous Jewish saints’ graves, including the well-known Silica, are located in the adjoining Jewish cemetery.
During our guided tour of the city, you will also see a variety of Jewish Heritage sites, including synagogues, universities, and mosques.

  • Day 7: Fes – Synagogue of Midelt – Merzouga Sahara Desert

We will go to the picturesque village of Midelt before heading to the Sahara Desert.
The hamlet, which is encircled by the magnificent Ayachi Mountain, is home to a gorgeous synagogue and the Kasbah Myriem Christian monastery.
Here, you will see local women learning about the fine art of making traditional Moroccan carpets. An unforgettable evening trip to the Sahara desert is included in our Day Itinerary.

  • Day 8: Merzouga Sightseeing

    After breakfast in your riad, you can take a little exploration of the local area before the start of your camel ride;
You will visit the Gnawa people – originally from Mali, Senegal, and Sudan- in their village Khamlia, where you will learn about their music and their lifestyle.
Later, we will drive in the desert area to meet nomad families to explore their way of life.
Today our lunch will be a traditional Berber meal (Berber pizza). You will have the option also to visit the old city of Rissani – the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco.
Rissani is surrounded by about 360 ksars (a fortified village with many towers) and has a big souk (an open market), held three times a week.
Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Tombouctou in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables, and clothes.
Drive back to the village of Merzouga.
In the afternoon, you will ride your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore what is hidden in the middle of the highest sand dunes in Morocco.
Dinner will be served in front of the tent where you will spend the night.

  • Day 9: Merouga – Dades Gorge, the ancient city of jews – Rose Valley

Dades Gorge, a striking scenery, is a wonderful addition to our Jewish Heritage Travel Itinerary.
These lovely valleys provide some of Morocco’s most breathtaking scenery, including breathtaking vistas of the Dades River below.
Additionally, you will pass by the well-known Rose Valley, which is located beneath the Central Atlas.

  • Day 10: Skoura – find an adobe synagogue in Arazan en route to Taroudante

Skoura is a picturesque village known for its stunning kasbahs, nestled along the historic route connecting Tafialet and Ouarzazate. Founded in the 12th century, this village offers a fascinating glimpse into Morocco's past.

This Adobe synagogue is not only a spiritual center but also an architectural marvel, showcasing the fusion of Jewish and Amazigh cultures in the heart of Morocco.

  • Day 11: Taroudant – Marrakech

Taroudant, often referred to as “Little Marrakech”, is the next enchanting stop on our journey through Morocco. This hidden gem is steeped in history and offers a glimpse into traditional Moroccan life without the overwhelming hustle of larger cities.

Stroll through the vibrant souqs and bustling squares, where the essence of Maghrebi mystique fills the air. Taroudant’s medina provides the perfect blend of culture and relaxation, making it an ideal starting point for various activities, including trekking in the stunning surrounding landscapes.

As the day winds down, take some time to unwind and soak in the peaceful atmosphere before we set off for Marrakech, one of the most anticipated highlights of our tour. Prepare for an unforgettable experience as we dive into the heart of Morocco’s Red City.

No visit to Marrakech is complete without experiencing the lively energy of Djemaa El Fna Square. Lose yourself in its vibrant souks and artisan quarters, where skilled craftsmen have preserved their traditions for centuries.

For those seeking a deeper connection to the city’s Jewish roots, a visit to the Jewish Cemetery is a must. Here, you can pay tribute to the revered Rabbi Mordekhai Ben Attar and Rabbi Hanania Hacohen, whose legacy continues to resonate within the heart of Marrakech.

  • Day 13 : Marrakech – Jewish and Portuguese Roots of Seaside Village Essaouira

Essaouira, an awe-inspiring coastal masterpiece, serves as the grand finale of our remarkable journey through Morocco.

This mesmerizing city, once a thriving hub of Jewish and Portuguese influence, stands as an enduring symbol of heritage, resilience, and cultural brilliance.

With its striking blue, yellow, and white facades, Essaouira’s medina captivates the soul, exuding an undeniable energy that has enchanted travelers for centuries.

As you weave through its labyrinthine streets, you’ll witness master artisans passionately shaping exquisite woodcraft, while vibrant galleries showcase mesmerizing artwork that tells the city’s legendary tales.

A powerful testament to its Jewish legacy, the Star of David remains boldly etched above countless doorways—an unshakable mark of a once-flourishing community.

Every September, Jewish pilgrims from around the world embark on an emotional and deeply spiritual journey to Essaouira, honoring the revered Rabbi Haim Pinto.

His historic residence, now a sacred synagogue, stands as an eternal beacon of faith, whispering the echoes of devotion, endurance, and unity.
