  • Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – Start Your Photo Tour in Morocco

Your journey begins in the heart of Marrakech, a city bursting with color, energy, and cultural charm. We meet at our traditional riad in the historic medina at 3 PM, where you’ll be introduced to your fellow travelers and expert photography guide.

From here, we set out to explore the labyrinthine alleys of the medina, capturing its vibrant souks, artisans at work, and intricate architectural details. Our first stop is the Museum of Photography, offering a fascinating look at Morocco’s visual history and inspiration for our adventure. From the museum’s rooftop, we’ll photograph sweeping views of the city skyline with the majestic Atlas Mountains in the distance.

As the golden hour approaches, we head to the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, and bustling market stalls create a dynamic scene. Here, we capture the ever-changing light and street life before returning to our riad for a traditional Moroccan dinner and a debrief on the upcoming journey.

  • Day 2: High Atlas Mountains, Telouet Kasbah & Tamedakhte

We depart Marrakech early, embarking on a breathtaking drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Winding through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, we stop at panoramic viewpoints, where the rugged peaks and lush valleys provide incredible opportunities for landscape photography. A telephoto lens will be useful for capturing the layered mountain ridges bathed in morning light.

By midday, we arrive at the stunning Telouet Kasbah, an ancient stronghold of the Glaoui family. Unlike the more touristy kasbahs, this hidden gem offers a raw, authentic experience with beautifully decayed architecture and intricate zellij tilework. We take our time to explore its history and play with light and shadow in our compositions.

From Telouet, we continue through the unspoiled Ounila Valley, a photographer’s paradise of dramatic cliffs, Berber villages, and lush greenery contrasting against the desert landscape. By late afternoon, we arrive in Tamedakhte, where we check into a picturesque riad located near an ancient kasbah—our main subject for an unforgettable sunset shoot.

  • Day 3: Ait Benhaddou & Journey to Erg Chigaga

We rise early to capture the sunrise over Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed mudbrick ksar that has served as a backdrop for countless films. The golden morning light brings out the rich textures of its ancient walls, creating magical compositions.

After breakfast, we begin our long but rewarding drive towards the Erg Chigaga dunes, one of the most remote and pristine areas of the Sahara Desert. We pass through the Draa Valley, famous for its vast date palm oases and centuries-old kasbahs, stopping to photograph its striking contrast of greenery against the arid mountains.

By late afternoon, we reach Erg Chigaga, where an endless sea of dunes stretches before us. We check into our luxurious Berber desert camp, nestled in the heart of the dunes. As the sun begins to set, we hike to the highest dune in the area to photograph the incredible transformation of colors—from warm golds to deep reds and purples.

  • Day 4: Sahara Desert Magic & Nomadic Encounters

Before dawn, we venture out for an unforgettable Milky Way photography session, capturing the star-filled sky over the silent dunes. As the sun rises, the soft light paints the desert in pastel hues, providing the perfect setting for breathtaking compositions.

After breakfast, we have the unique opportunity to visit a nomadic family, learning about their traditional way of life and capturing intimate portraits of their daily routines. These rare encounters allow us to document Morocco’s living heritage with authenticity.

In the late afternoon, we prepare for another spectacular sunset shoot, this time focusing on dromedary caravans moving through the dunes. We have the chance to ride camels back to camp, capturing dynamic images of their silhouettes against the setting sun.

  • Day 5: Canyon Landscapes of Foum Zguid

We wake up to another magical sunrise in the Sahara before saying goodbye to the dunes. Our journey takes us towards Lake Iriqui, where we photograph Jebel Bani and the stark beauty of the desert mountains.

By midday, we reach the remote canyon landscapes of Foum Zguid, a hidden gem of towering rock formations and dramatic cliffs. This rarely photographed region offers unique geological wonders, and by wild camping nearby, we gain exclusive access to stunning sunrise and sunset shots.

  • Day 6: Journey to Tafraoute – The Anti-Atlas Region

After a sunrise shoot in the canyon, we continue west into the Anti-Atlas Mountains, a rugged, otherworldly terrain dotted with massive boulders and bizarre rock formations.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Tafraoute, a lesser-known destination with a surreal landscape of pink granite mountains and palm-filled valleys. After checking into our charming guesthouse in the Ameln Valley, we set out to scout locations for our sunset shoot. This area, with its untouched beauty, presents endless opportunities for unique compositions.

  • Day 7: Exploring Ameln Valley & Tafraoute’s Hidden Gems

We rise early for a golden-hour shoot in the hills surrounding Tafraoute, capturing the play of light on its sculpted rock formations. After breakfast, we embark on a guided exploration of the region, with options to visit Ait Mansour Gorge, a breathtaking oasis of lush palms nestled between towering cliffs.

For those seeking more adventure, we offer short hikes to panoramic viewpoints, while others may prefer to wander through the Berber villages, photographing daily life and traditional mudbrick homes. The evening’s sunset shoot takes us to a carefully chosen location, ensuring another day of outstanding photography.

  • Day 8: Travel to Essaouira – The Atlantic Coast

Today, we make our way to the Atlantic coast, descending from the mountains into the vast plains before reaching the coastal city of Essaouira.

Upon arrival, we check into a traditional riad and set out to explore the UNESCO-listed medina, a maze of whitewashed alleys filled with vibrant souks and art galleries. We then head to the historic ramparts, where the golden light of sunset casts a magical glow over the crashing waves. The day ends with a farewell dinner, celebrating our incredible journey through Morocco.

  • Day 9: Return to Marrakech & Farewell

After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Marrakech. Depending on departure schedules, we make a few stops along the way for any last scenic captures.

Participants are dropped off either at the Marrakech airport or back in the medina for those staying longer. With memory cards full of breathtaking images and unforgettable experiences, we say goodbye, concluding our Morocco Photography Tour.
